Earlier today, former professional American basketball player Rex Chapman shared a heartwarming video with everyone on Twitter. In the video they shared, a young girl is shown who did not think twice about saving a shark trapped by a low tide in a rock pool and took her to deep water. While the actual video/incident dates back to November 24, 2020, it went viral when Chapman shared the video clip on the microblogging site.
With the clip being shared, the 53-year-old wrote, “If you have already seen a young girl a baby shark can be saved under some rocks, just keep scrolling …”
Chapman’s post received more than 1 million views, over 54,000 likes, close to 6,400 retweets, and heaps of praise from hundreds of users who flooded the comments section on Twitter. Chapman’s video post garnered mixed reactions, as most users said rescue scenes developed Baby sharks song, while others praised the child’s valiant effort to save the baby shark. Whereas, another group of users thought it had released another man-eater in Tasmanian waters. Here are some responses:
A user used a shark meme to express their reaction.
Another praised the child’s rescue, comparing him to a ‘hero’ and further wrote that he did not need to wear a cape.
A third praised the child and wrote such acts as ‘I hope so’.
I love caring children !! They give me hope! March 29, 2021
On a lighter note, another user said after watching the video clip that the song ‘Baby Shark’ is running through his head.
Why is the song “Baby Shark” running through my head right now? Thanks, Rex (hands on hips)… .. – Andrew Ree (@ AndrewRei15) March 29, 2021
Another user compared it to ‘Amityville’ and wrote that he had ‘let the other man eat’ loose.
Great, another man eater on the loose of Amityville. – Carolina Titan 10 (@ carolinatitan10) March 29, 2021
A creative Twitterati took second place by sharing a screenshot from the movie ‘Jaws’ and eventually wrote, ‘Fast forward 10 years later’.
Chapman’s now-viral video shows 11-year-old Billy Ree being rescued by a Drakuthboard shark that was trapped in a rockpool at the southern end of Kingston Beach in Tasmania, Australia. Ray saw the creature and participated in the action. Without a second thought, he picked up the bottom feeder and delicately carried it over the rocks towards the deep waters.
